Οι εξελίξεις γύρω από το σκάνδαλο των στημένων αγώνων στο ελληνικό μπάσκετ είναι καταιγιστικές, καθώς νέα στοιχεία που προκύπτουν από τη δικογραφία αποκαλύπτουν την έκταση της δράσης του κυκλώματος.
Ένας σημαντικός μάρτυρας, ο οποίος είναι επιχειρηματίας και πρόεδρος ομάδας της Β’ κατηγορίας, έκανε σοβαρές καταγγελίες που αφορούν τον πρόεδρο της Ελληνικής Ομοσπονδίας Καλαθοσφαίρισης (ΕΟΚ), Ευάγγελο Λιόλιο.
Σύμφωνα με την κατάθεσή του, έλαβε 50.000 ευρώ από τον τότε πρόεδρο του Προμηθέα ως «οικονομική υποστήριξη» για την ανάπτυξη της ομάδας του, ποσό το οποίο δεν ζητήθηκε ποτέ να επιστραφεί.
Στο επόμενο παιχνίδι, η διαιτητής που είχε κληρωθεί φέρεται να έλαβε 5.000 ευρώ, προκειμένου να εξασφαλίσει τη νίκη της ομάδας του μάρτυρα ως «ευχαριστώ» για τη βοήθεια προς τον κ. Λιόλιο.
Additionally, ο μάρτυρας ανέφερε ότι το 2016 έλαβε 100.000 ευρώ, μέσω τρίτου προσώπου από τον Ευάγγελο Λιόλιο με αντάλλαγμα την παραίτησή του από την προεδρία της ομάδας του ώστε να διευκολυνθεί η άνοδος του Προμηθέα στην Α’ κατηγορία υπό την καθοδήγηση του κατηγορούμενου.
Πέρα από τα χρηματικά ποσά
Aπό τα στοιχεία που έχουν συγκεντρωθεί φαίνεται ότι οι απαιτήσεις των εμπλεκόμενων διαιτητών δεν περιορίζονταν μόνο σε χρήματα αλλά περιλάμβαναν και συγκεκριμένες «προτιμήσεις» για πολυτελή διαμονή σε ακριβά ξενοδοχεία.

The criminal prosecution in this case heavily relies on detailed testimonies from two key individuals, who accurately describe how this system operates:
An active referee provided authorities with text messages that corroborate his claims. He testified that between 2018 and 2026 he received directives from the accused businessman regarding what he should officiate in approximately 30 matches of B’ category basketball. Instead of cash payments for his services during these games he ensured continuous assignments for important and critical matches.
This scandal appears to extend beyond Greek borders; included in the case file is testimony from a former referee who mentioned an international match where a foreign colleague was offered an enticing proposal of €10,000 to officiate according to specific instructions.
